Collapse – Argentina to the United States

In 1998 Argentina slipped into an economic depression, set off by a wave of financial shocks starting in Asia and Russia, culminating in a debt default and currency devaluation in 2001. As the subsequent banking crisis led to freezes on deposits and companies to lay off employees, people began to riot, and normal people like Fernando “Ferfal” Aguirre had to learn how to survive. In his book ’Surviving the Economic Collapse’, he details what steps he an many others had to take when basic food, water, and security are not guaranteed. On the eve of the 2016 US presidential election and trust in government institutions at an all time low, we felt it appropriate to consider scenarios in which the United States faces civil unrest – or possibly even worse.
