Argentina – The Evita Review

Once possessing the highest GDP per capita in the world by the end of the 19th century, with its capital city Buenos Aires being called the Paris of South America, Argentina has since fallen to a country that while prosperous, remains prone to financial crises and political turmoil. In dealing with this, Juan and Eva Peron, political and ‘spiritual’ leaders for 10 years following WWII, embodied the populist approach that emphasized a government for the working class, leaving a legacy that to this day has a large number of Argentinian politicians calling themselves ‘Peronist’.
